Report by Pete Smith (Chairman)
At the Region’s May meeting, members voted to support two new charities over the next 12 months to two years – The Lighthouse Project and Springhill Hospice.
The Lighthouse Project is based in Middleton and supports vulnerable people within the local community in a wide variety of ways.
Its work includes providing debt advice and practical help with household bills and budgeting, as well as operating a food bank. The project also provides opportunities for people who may be lonely or isolated to meet others and enjoy some social interaction.
Other practical support includes help with banking and access to the internet for people who may not be able to afford their own Wi-Fi connection.
The Northern Jaguar Show, on Sunday 23rd August 2026, gave us our first opportunity to raise money for these charities and during the show the Region was able to raise £80. The Club then decided to round this up to £100.
I was very pleased this week to be able to present a cheque for £100 on behalf of the Greater Manchester Region to Carl Roach from The Lighthouse Project.
