END OF SEASON 2026 NEWSLETTER

Hello,

Looking back over 2026 so far, I think we sometimes forget just how much
has actually been going on within our Greater Manchester Region of the JEC.

We have had shows, visits, social events, drive it days, regular meetings, members supporting neighbouring Regions and, of course, our own Northern Jaguar Show at the Avro Heritage Museum.

None of that happens just because there is a website or a strong committee. It happens because members turn up, join in, suggest things, volunteer, share photographs and tell us what they have enjoyed.

So this month’s newsletter is really a celebration of that — and perhaps a gentle invitation to everyone else to join in with whatever comes next.

What a Day at Avro

Our Northern Jaguar Show at the Avro Heritage Museum was the culmination of months of planning and an enormous amount of work by Pete, Ian and the many members who volunteered their time before and during the event.

Rather than try to reproduce the whole story here, we have put together a full Activity Report on the website, bringing together the different perspectives on the day along with plenty of photographs.

21 Events — and Plenty of Variety

One statistic rather surprised me, due to the way time has flow by, is when I looked back through the Region’s calendar of Events on our Website and did some adding up.

We have had 21 recorded Club events during 2026.

They stretch from the Craft Fair at the beginning of our events season in April, right through to our most recent outing to Cusworth Hall in late August where members went along to support the Doncaster Region.

In between there has been a real mixture of shows, visits and opportunities simply to get the Jaguars out and spend some time with fellow enthusiasts.

Whenever you joined the Region and however many events you have or haven’t been able to attend — still have a look back through our past events. You may be surprised by just how much has been happening.

And Members Have Been Doing Their Own Thing Too…

Of course, not everything our members get up to appears as an official entry on our Club’s Event Calendar on the website.

A small group of Greater Manchester members recently headed off together for a long weekend in Wales, enjoying some wonderful driving roads, spectacular scenery, good food and — perhaps most importantly — good company. There is a fantastic Article on the website for everyone to read.

It is a nice reminder that belonging to the Region isn’t simply about turning up at an organised show once every few months. Friendships develop, people discover shared interests and before long small groups are heading off on adventures of their own and those stories are worth sharing too.

If you’ve been somewhere interesting with other members of our Region for an enjoyable day out with your Jaguar — send us a few photographs and tell us what happened. It doesn’t need to arrive as a polished article, just use the Feedback link (or reply to this email) and give me the ingredients and I’ll happily do the necessary lifting to publish it onto our Club website.

And, apparently, pressure is now mounting on me to get on and organise the return trip to the Isle of Man in 2027…

Your Region — Your Contribution

One thing I would really like to encourage is more input from all our members into our website, including those who perhaps don’t normally think of themselves as “contributors”. Our website is not only our Club’s record of what we’ve all been doing, but it is an important public ambassador to encourage other local Jaguar enthusiasts to come along and join us – and to come with their families too.

Contribution doesn’t have to mean writing pages of prose.

It could simply mean:

• telling us what you thought of an event;
• sending in a few photographs;
• suggesting somewhere the Region could visit;
• telling us about a Jaguar-related event you’ve discovered;
• sharing something interesting about your own car;
• or simply letting us know what you’d like to see the Region doing.

We’ve deliberately made that easier on the website.

You’ll not only find we have a dedicated Feedback form on our Club website, but underneath all our Events and Meetings, Activity Reports, Car Albums and Gallery Photos as well (just venture to the bottom and you’ll find it there for you). So if you’re reading about somewhere we’ve been and suddenly think, “I was there — I could add something to that”, you can do it there and then – just click Yes.

Send me the raw material and I’ll work with you to turn it into something we can share with everybody else.

What Should We Do Next?

With such a busy 2026 behind us, thoughts will inevitably begin turning towards next year, and I will start to add Event details to our Club’s website calendar as I receive them.

But future events don’t need to come solely from Pete, Ian or the committee. If there is somewhere you think would make a good visit, a show you’d like us to support, an interesting venue or simply something a little different that you think members would enjoy, please tell us.

Some ideas will work, some won’t, and some may lead to something completely different — but we’ll never know unless people suggest them.

Likewise, if you’ve attended one of this year’s events, your feedback is genuinely useful when deciding what we repeat, what we change and what we leave behind.

Thank You for Being Part of It

Twenty-one events don’t happen because somebody fills a calendar with
dates.

They happen because our members choose to take part.

The same applies to the website, the photographs, the Activity Reports,
the meetings and the friendships that develop around all of them.

Whether you’ve marshalled at Avro, driven across the country to attend a show, come along to a meeting, sent us a photograph, suggested an event, written something for the website or simply turned up and enjoyed yourself — you’ve contributed to our Region.

Greater Manchester JEC is something you’re part of.

Let’s keep that momentum going.
