What is an Activity Report?
An Activity Report is a member’s own record of a Club Event or Meeting that has taken place.
Our Events and Meetings pages tell members what the Club is planning to do. Afterwards, Activity Reports allow the members who were there to record what actually happened.
That might mean photographs from a classic car show, memories of a Club drive,
something interesting from one of our monthly Meetings, or simply a few words about an enjoyable day spent with other members.
Together, these reports turn our calendar of Meetings and Events into a lasting record of the Greater Manchester Region and the things our members have enjoyed together.
From an Event or Meeting to an Activity Report
Every Activity Report begins with something that has already taken place in the Club’s calendar.
Beforehand, the Event or Meeting record contains the practical information members need — where we are going, when it is happening and any arrangements for attending.
Once that date has passed, members who attended can add an Activity Report to tell the story of what happened.
In simple terms:
Event or Meeting — what we planned to do.
Activity Report — a member’s account of what we did.
This means the original Event or Meeting remains the permanent reference for the occasion, while the Activity Reports add the photographs, memories and individual experiences afterwards.
More Than One Member Can Tell the Story
There does not have to be just one official report for an Event or Meeting.
Different members often notice different things, take different photographs and have different experiences of the same occasion. For that reason, more than one member can create an Activity Report for the same Event or Meeting.
One member might concentrate on the cars at a show, another on the journey there, while somebody else may have photographs of the members, displays or places they visited during the day.
Each report adds another perspective and helps us build a much richer record of the occasion than a single Club report could provide.
Your Report Belongs to You
Every Activity Report is owned by the member who created it.
If several members create reports about the same Event or Meeting, those reports remain completely separate. You can return to and update your own report, but you cannot amend another member’s contribution.
Likewise, another member cannot alter your report simply because they attended the same occasion.
This allows everyone to contribute freely while ensuring that each member remains responsible for their own photographs and account of the day.
Reading Activity Reports
Activity Reports can be browsed through the Club’s Activities section, allowing members and visitors to look back at what the Greater Manchester Region has been doing.
When an Event or Meeting has Activity Reports associated with it, those reports provide the story behind the original calendar entry.
If you are logged in and attended the same Event or Meeting, you can add your own report even when another member has already contributed one.
If you have already written a report for that occasion, the website will instead allow you to return to your own report and update it.
What Makes a Good Activity Report?
An Activity Report doesn’t need to be a formal Club report or a carefully written article. It is simply your account of the occasion.
Tell us what you remember. Perhaps there was an interesting car, an enjoyable drive, a particularly good guest speaker, an unexpected incident or simply a good afternoon spent with fellow Jaguar enthusiasts.
Photographs are particularly welcome. They might show:
- The Jaguars attending the Event
- Members and their cars
- The Club display at a show
- Places visited during a drive or social outing
- Interesting cars or exhibits you discovered
- A guest speaker or presentation at a Meeting
- Anything else that helped make the occasion memorable
A few paragraphs and some photographs are often all that is needed to preserve the memory and allow members who weren’t there to enjoy some of the occasion too.
Activity Report, Gallery Photo or Car Album?
These features complement one another, but each has a different purpose.
An Activity Report records your experience of a Greater Manchester JEC Event or Meeting that has taken place.
A Gallery Photo is ideal when you simply have one particular photograph of your Jaguar that you would like to share, together with the story behind it.
A Car Album is the continuing home for the story of one particular Jaguar — its history, ownership, maintenance, restoration, modifications and memorable experiences.
In simple terms:
Activity Report — your view of something the Club did.
Gallery Photo — one photograph worth sharing.
Car Album — the continuing story of your car.
Our Club Through the Eyes of Our Members
Activity Reports are written by Greater Manchester JEC members who attended our Meetings and Events.
Rather than presenting only a single official account, they allow different members to share their own photographs, memories and experiences of the same occasion.
Visitors are welcome to browse the Activity Reports and discover some of the shows, meetings, drives and social occasions enjoyed by the Region.
Once logged in, members can also contribute their own report to a past Event or Meeting and this Guide includes additional information explaining how to do so.

Help Us Record the Life of the Club
A calendar can tell us where we planned to go, but it can’t capture the conversations, cars, photographs and memories that made the occasion worthwhile.
Activity Reports allow the members who were actually there to add that missing part of the story.
The more members who contribute, the richer that record becomes — not because everyone tells the same story, but because each person sees the day a little differently.
