This is the fourth Jaguar I have owned, over the last 32 years (2026), and the one I've kept the longest (17 years).
I found it on eBay whilst on a business trip to Germany. I had been looking for one for over a year and didn’t want a silver one , but the unusual Red and Black interior made me curious. After returning from my trip I drove over to Northwich, Cheshire, and a deal was done.
I quickly booked the car in to Stephen Heywood in Rochdale for a check over and a fresh MOT which it passed. Steve gave it a clean bill of health.
Over the past 17 years it’s had the normal service items tyres , brakes etc. Also had the body work done removing rust from the normal places ( sill ends , back panels and front wings ). After 4 years the rust seems to have stopped mostly due to the 25kgs of waxoyl that was flooded into all the panels.
I have need to refurbish the wheels, twice, and they need doing again due to cornering too fast.
Recently it has had the handbrake shoes replaced and an aircon re-gas. It is currently booked in for a repair on the roof as the hydraulics are leaking, so roof is operable in manual mode. I am also having a gearbox service, a front wheel bearing and front suspension bushes replaced.
The engine at over 85000 miles is still in good order mostly due to yearly oil and filter changes.
I will hopefully keep it as I still enjoy driving it .
I've taken my Jaguar on a number of trips out, many of them with our Greater Manchester JEC Region.
I've been to Conwy, North Wales, in 2017, along with a visit to Stephen Heywood's holiday Caravan (which he no longer has).
It has been to Grasmere, in the Lake District, in 2019, and joined in the Lakes Classic Car show (which is now no longer held in Grasmere).
